16 Tool 6: The Path of Least Regret (Kam's Story)

Key Points Summary:

In this video, Kam tells his personal story in taking the Path of Least Regret. He discusses:
  • Asking Google for help on how to ask out a girl he liked!
  • "It is better to know and be disappointed, than to not know and always wonder" - Oscar Wilde
  • Getting rejected by the girl he liked (thanks, Oscar Wilde...)
    • But after the initial pain and disappointment wore off, feeling proud of himself for having the courage to try and ask her out - the Path of Least Regret!
  • Receiving a Cambridge offer specifying an A* in Further Maths- having just scored 28% in a mock-exam!
    • (And the first module that counts towards the A* grade just 8 days away!)
  • Being inspired by his rejection experience and deciding to take the Path of Least Regret.
    • Doing his best to meet the Cambridge offer (despite very likely failing to achieve the grade needed)...
    • ...instead of just taking the easy path to another university without even attempting to get into Cambridge - and always wondering/regretting what could have happened if he had actually tried his best.

Activities:

Make a list of 3-5 things that you really want to do, but aren't doing because you're too afraid of (for example):
  • Being rejected (e.g. job applications or dating)
  • Failing (e.g. exams, sports)
  • Embarrassing yourself (e.g. new activities, social events)
  • Being judged by others
  • Disappointing loved ones
  • Being proven wrong
  • Being alone
  • Having a part of your identity 'invalidated' (e.g. having an identity that you are 'intelligent' and being afraid of something happening that would prove that you no longer were 'intelligent'.)

What would you be doing in each of these situations if you were to walk the Path of Least Regret?
